Move off/Turns
Moving
off: The driver is expected to check his or her mirror(s) and
blind spot if applicable. Observing and gear selection can be done
simultaneously. Maintain clear space behind
vehicle ahead before moving off. (Approximately 4 – 5 metres). Move off without
lifting front wheel. During moving off, the driver must not cause the wheel of
the motorcycle to spin. Maintain balance and place both feet on the front foot
pegs as soon as the motorcycle starts moving.
Turns: The instructor will
instruct the driver to move off from point “R” and to ride straight towards
point “U”, at point “U” to turn left between the outer and inner boundary lines
as at an intersection without touching either the inner or outer boundary lines
of the corner at “W”, to stop at the stop line at “N”, to move off in the
direction of “V”, to turn left at point “V” between the outer and inner
boundary lines as at an intersection, without touching either the inner or
outer boundary lines of the corner at “X”. Once the turn is completed at point
“X”, the manoeuvre will end, and only one attempt will be allowed.
Penalties will be given for the
following:
- Observation/mirrors/blind spots
- Signal intention
- Gear changing/Selection
- Moving off
- Cancels signal
- Loss of balance
- Stalls engine
- Braking
- Touch line
- Number of attempts
- Lets vehicle roll
