Parallel Parking to the left

Parallel parking when a driver parks the vehicle
parallel to the road (in line with other parked vehicles.) Usually when a
driver wants to parallel park the driver initially drives slightly past the parking space,
parallel to the parked vehicle in front of the drivers desired parking space
(Keep in mind the driver should keep a safe distance,) then the driver will
proceed to reverse into that space. Forward and reverse motions might be
required to park the vehicle into the parking space correctly. Points will be
deducted by the instructor for the following:

  • If the driver lets the vehicle roll.
    (Immediate failure.)
  • Application of parking brake
  • Application of parking brake without using
    release mechanism.
  • Observation
  • Signal intention
  • Gear changing/selection
  • Moving off
  • Stalls engine
  • Counter steers
  • Touches or bumps the kerb
  • Mounts kerb (Immediate failure)
  • Touches obstacles (Immediate failure)
  • Number of attempts
  • Cancels signal
