Reverse

The driver
will be required to reverse the vehicle in a straight line. The driver will
only be allowed one attempt at the manoeuvre. The driver should position the
vehicle at the starting point and apply parking brake selecting the neutral gear.
(or “P” for automatic transmission). When given the instruction the driver
should select the reverse gear. It is imperative the drive obtains proper
clutch control. Do the necessary observation technique. Release the park brake
and move off. It is very important to make sure the vehicle is kept in the
straight line as indicated, without touching the side boundary lines. Stop the
vehicle where indicated. Apply the parking brake. Select neutral, (or “P” for
automatic transmission). The instructor will remove points for the following:

  • Lets
    vehicle roll (immediate failure)
  • Application
    of parking brake
  • Observation
  • Gear
    changing/selection
  • Moving off
  • Stalls
    engine
  • Touch
    line/road marking
  • Number of
    attempts
