Speed control
Speed
control refers to how the driver uses speed control when following other
vehicles. The driver must obtain and where possible, maintain a minimum
2-second following distance. Under adverse conditions such as rain, slippery surface,
poor visibility or when being followed too closely, the following distance
shall be increased. If the driver fails to maintain the minimum following
distance of 2 seconds the instructor will then penalise the driver every 5 – 8
seconds. The driver will also be penalised for the following:
- Mirrors
- Too fast for conditions
- Too slow for conditions
- Acceleration
- Deceleration
- Braking
- Following distance
