Stopping
Many
penalties can be awarded if the driver does not know how to make use of the
various and different parking manoeuvres. Some tips to remember when stopping
the vehicle would be for the driver to know correct clutch control methods as
well as parking brakes (foot and mechanical).
Remember to turn the front wheels in the direction of the kerb and
select an appropriate gear as a precautionary measure to prevent the vehicle
from moving unnecessarily. When coming to a complete stop (If the vehicle is
equipped with a foot-operated parking brake) the sequence would be to select
neutral, with service brake depressed and then to apply the parking brake.
Points will be deducted for the following:
- Mirrors
- Blind spots
- Signal intention
- Braking
- Disengage clutch
- Clear space
- Application of parking brake
- Application of parking brake without using
release mechanism - Neutral/Drive/Park
- Cancels signal
- Needless stopping
