Study Guides › Learner’s Manual › Information for a Learner’s License Test

A learner’s license is required before a person can legally be trained to drive a vehicle on a public road.
You can apply to be tested for a learner’s license at any registered driving license testing centre (DLTC) on the appropriate application form (form LL1).
On issuance of the receipt, the DLTC will determine a date and time on which you will have to report for the approved learner’s license test.
The test will cover the following aspects;
- rules of the road and other legislative matters,
- road traffic signs, signals and road markings, and
- the use of controls of a vehicle.
Once the approved learner’s license test was passed, your learner’s license will be valid for a period of 24 months from the day of the test.
