Emergency stop
Emergency
stops are a requirement for the road test but can only commence when the yard
test was successful. During the road test, the driver will be instructed by the
examiner to stop the vehicle at a safe place at the side of the road. The
instructor will stop the stopwatch as soon as the vehicle has come to a
complete stop and started when moving off. The instructor will inform the driver
that he/she shall give the instruction to “Stop” when it is safe to do so,
and the vehicle must be brought to a complete standstill in the shortest
possible distance as if in an emergency, e.g. A child running into the road.
Penalties will be given for:
- Stop
vehicle - Controlled stop
- Number of attempts
