Stopping
Many penalties can be awarded if
the driver does not know how to make use of the various and different stopping
manoeuvres. Some tips to remember when stopping the motorcycle would be for the
driver to know correct clutch control methods.
Remember to turn the front wheels in the direction of the kerb and
select an appropriate gear as a precautionary measure to prevent the vehicle
from moving unnecessarily. Neutral should be selected when stationary for any length of time,
but this may not be necessary depending on traffic signals and stop/start
progress of traffic. When coming to a stop, the brake pedal must be depressed
before disengaging the clutch, in order to prevent coasting. This is not a
requirement in stop-start traffic or when stopping on an incline. Points will be
deducted for the following:
- Mirrors
- Braking
- Disengage clutch
- Loss of balance
- Controlled stop
